SIX ESCAPE DEATH IN TWO TRUCK CRASHES
In Lagos State, the Federal Road Safety Corps has rescued six people from two different containerized truck-related traffic accidents.
The rescue crew was praised by Corps Marshal Shehu Mohammed for their professionalism, bravery, and promptness in handling the situations.
Six kilometers from Mile 2 on the Apapa-Wharf route, next to Flour Mill, the first accident happened at 10:50 a.m. on Sunday.
Two commercial Mack trucks, one green and one red, were involved after the brakes failed. An official report states that the crash involved four males.
Three people were uninjured, but one was hurt, possibly with cuts and bruises.
The second incident occurred on November 25, 2024, near Mile 2 Oke, along the Euro 65-Signal Barracks route, when a 40-foot container truck struck a Toyota Corolla saloon car.
Two people were trapped inside the automobile when the container fell on it as a result of the collision. Both victims were saved alive because of the FRSC team’s quick response.
In a statement released Monday and signed by corps spokeswoman Olusegun Ogungbemide, Shehu complimented the team’s high standards of professionalism and urgency for their life-saving actions.
These precautions are especially important as the end-of-year travel season draws near, which is known for having more traffic and accidents.
Mohammed asked fleet owners to give their drivers proper training and advised drivers to follow fundamental safety procedures.
He emphasised that ensuring roadworthiness and understanding modern road safety dynamics are essential steps in preventing such accidents.
“The Corps Marshal Federal Road Safety Corps, Shehu Mohammed has commended the efforts of FRSC Rescue and emergency response team for a rare demonstration of bravery, professionalism, and resilience after successfully rescuing six victims of road traffic crashes from a deadly containerised crash.
“The mileages achieved through these proactive approaches were recorded at the expense of Corps Marshal’s earlier directives to operatives to assert a high level of professionalism and promptness to rescue of crash victims as the end of the year travels gather momentum.
“Expectedly, the Corps Marshal charged drivers to maintain minimum safety standards while admonishing fleet operators to ensure that their drivers are subjected to adequate training to acquaint them with the basics of contemporary dynamics of safe road use,” the statement read.
