NEWS: FIGHTER AIRCRAFT DESTROYS TERRORIST CAMP IN SHIRORO FOREST, NEUTRALIZES AA GUNS
In an ongoing effort to combat national threats, Nigerian military operations have achieved significant successes over the past week, including the neutralization of 181 terrorists, the arrest of 253 suspects, and the rescue of 161 kidnapped victims.
NAF fighter jets bombed the notorious camp of terrorist leader Mallam Sadiku in Shiroro Forest, Niger State. The enclave, known for deploying anti-aircraft weapons against surveillance drones, was destroyed, killing scores of terrorists and eliminating the AA gun.
Recovered Weapons and Equipment:
228 assorted weapons, including AK-47 rifles, fabricated guns, GPMGs, and pistols.
6,749 rounds of ammunition.
15 vehicles, 33 motorcycles, and 42 mobile phones.
₦577,800 in cash.
Oil Theft Prevention:
47 illegal refining sites, 44 storage tanks, and 38 boats destroyed.
Recovery of 765,680 liters of crude oil and 86,725 liters of illegally refined AGO, denying losses of ₦728.2 million.
Hostage Rescues:
161 individuals rescued across operations.
Regional Breakdown
North-East (Operation Hadin Kai):
Neutralized 53 terrorists, arrested 55 suspects, and rescued 17 hostages.
Recovered 29 AK-47 rifles, 670 rounds of 7.62mm ammo, and other equipment.
Repelled ISWAP/JAS attacks in Borno and Yobe States.
North-Central (Operation Safe Haven):
Neutralized 10 extremists, arrested 26 suspects, and rescued 60 hostages.
Significant arrests, including a notorious gunrunner in Plateau State.
North-West (Operation Hadarin Daji):
Neutralized 93 terrorists and rescued 67 hostages.
Recovered 43 AK-47 rifles, 7 FN rifles, and over 2,000 rounds of ammunition.
Destroyed camps of leaders Yusuf Yellow and Hassan Maitaro in Zamfara State.
South-East (Operation Udoka):
Neutralized 24 IPOB/ESN terrorists and arrested 13 extremists.
Operations uncovered a shallow grave used for ritual killings in Imo State.
Niger Delta (Operation Delta Safe):
Apprehended 50 oil thieves and extremists.
Destroyed illegal refinery infrastructure, including 25 crude oil ovens and 6 speedboats.
Major General Edward Buba reaffirmed the military’s commitment to eliminating terrorist threats and ensuring the safety of citizens. Recovered items and arrested suspects have been handed over to appropriate authorities for further action.
