PHOTOS: ALL LGAs, LCDAs GATHER AS LAGOS HOSTS YEAR 2024 WOMEN ASSEMBLY
By Ajape Sefiu A. Ikeja, Lagos, Dec. 17, 2024 – Women from all LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos gathers to mark the 2024 Women Assembly.
The Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) is currently holding the 2024 Women Assembly at De Blueroof, LTV, Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.
This year’s assembly holding today, December 17, 2024, further demonstrates the commitment of the Lagos State government in addressing issues affecting women, promoting empowerment initiatives, and encouraging active participation in community development.
The WAPA ministry, headed by Hon. Mrs. Bolaji Cecilia Dada, Commissioner,Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, has a history of organizing Women Assemblies across various Local Government Areas (LGAs) and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) to engage with women at the grassroots level.
WAPA has been involved in various programs to support women’s welfare. In September 2024, the ministry hosted a food and nutrition program for women in Lagos Island, tagged “Ounje,” aimed at promoting healthy living among women.
Similarly, Lagos State government has initiated several programs to support women’s empowerment and address challenges faced by women in the state. One notable initiative is the “Women Assembly Forum,” launched to tackle issues affecting women through socio-economic programs and policies.
