The Ekiti State Amotekun Corps has announced a series of arrests of suspects in various parts of the state.

“Amotekun is working around the clock to ensure a smooth Christmas and New Year celebration in the state,” said Brig. Gen. Olu Adewa, the Corps Commander.

He revealed this in a statement issued by Adeleye Adewale, the Corps Head of Communications Department, headed “Suspects Arrested for Series of Crimes in Ekiti.”

Adewa said, “The corps is unrelenting in its bid to reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.”

A 22-year-old guy named Sunday Ojo was detained by Amotekun agents, he explained, on suspicion of stealing a Bajaj motorcycle with registration number FU481H from Tosa Street in Odooro, Ekiti East Local Government Area.

Additionally, on December 22, Amotekun operatives in the Efon Local Government Area arrested two suspects — 20-year-old Emmanuel Eriba and 30-year-old John Ogbam — for conspiracy and theft.

“The two suspects, who are residents of Efon Alaaye but hail from Benue State, were apprehended for allegedly stealing yam tubers and a TVS motorcycle owned by Mr Ajewole Segun at his farm,” the Amotekun commander stated.

“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime, admitting they colluded and conspired against the complainant.”

“All the suspects, along with the recovered exhibits, have since been handed over to the police at the different divisions for further investigation and prosecution.”
