SPEED DARLINGTON RELEASED ON BAIL – LAWYER
The Nigeria Police Force has granted bail to controversial musician Darlington Okoye, also known as Speed Darlington.
Stanley Alieke, his attorney, revealed this on Instagram on Monday.
“Apki has been granted bail by the court,” he wrote.
On November 27, while playing at a show in Owerri, Imo State, Darlington, also known as Akpi, was taken into custody.
His arrest was linked to mistreatment of Burna Boy, also known as Grammy winner Damini Ogulu.
Akpi’s arrest was caused by Burna Boy, according to Deji Adeyanju, a member of his legal team.
He had accused Burna Boy of having an immoral relationship with Sean “Diddy,” a troubled rapper from the United States who is accused of sexual exploitation and human trafficking.
Adeyanju had earlier called for the singer to either be released on bail or be charged within 48 hours.
“Our FREP application for Speed Darlington a.k.a has been granted by the court. He is to be arraigned within 48 hours or released. Issues around injustice may take time but justice will always prevail,” he wrote.
