To ensure smooth traffic flow across Lagos State during the festive season, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has directed the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) to intensify nighttime traffic monitoring and control in critical areas. These include Ikoyi, Lekki, Victoria Island, Ajah, and other high-traffic zones within the city.

The Governor’s directive emphasizes the prompt removal of any obstacles or incidents that could hinder vehicular and pedestrian movement, reflecting the administration’s dedication to ensuring safe and efficient transportation for all residents and visitors during the Yuletide.

In response to this directive, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Hon. Sola Giwa, has instructed LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, to immediately implement the Governor’s orders.

To fulfill this mandate, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki has mobilized a team of over 2,500 LASTMA officers equipped with advanced traffic management tools, including heavy-duty and mini towing vehicles, strategically stationed at key locations across Lagos State.

These officers will conduct continuous traffic monitoring and execute real-time interventions in areas known for heavy congestion, such as Ikoyi, Obalende, Victoria Island, and the Lekki-Ajah corridor.

Speaking on the initiative, Mr. Bakare-Oki confirmed LASTMA’s readiness to fully implement the Governor’s directive, ensuring that residents and visitors experience seamless movement throughout the holiday season.

“Our personnel are fully equipped and strategically positioned to promptly address any traffic challenges that may arise. This initiative aligns with the Governor’s vision of a Lagos where mobility remains unhindered throughout the festive period,” he stated.

He also appealed to Lagos residents to cooperate with traffic officials and comply with traffic regulations to facilitate smooth operations. He reaffirmed LASTMA’s commitment to maintaining order on the roads and providing timely assistance to road users.

This proactive measure by the Lagos State Government demonstrates its commitment to improving traffic management and ensuring a stress-free and enjoyable festive season for everyone.

For emergencies or urgent traffic-related issues, the public is encouraged to contact the LASTMA Toll-Free hotline at 080000527862 for immediate assistance.
