KANO SPENDS N1.5BN MONTHLY ON WATER TREATMENT, SEEKS SOLUTIONS TO BOOST SUPPLY
The Kano State Government has organized a significant meeting with stakeholders to evaluate and improve the water supply system under the Wudil Regional Water Scheme.
This scheme serves areas such as Wudil, Warawa, Gaya, and several other local government regions.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Umar Doguwa, emphasised the importance of the meeting, stating, “The objective of the meeting is to review and look at the water supply system in the Wudil Regional Water Scheme as a whole.”
He underscored the importance of involving traditional rulers and assembly members in the deliberations, emphasizing that their contributions are essential for tackling the challenges affecting the water supply system.
Doguwa said, “The state government is spending N1.5 billion every month on the treatment of plants and to boost water supply.
Furthermore, Doguwa explained that the state government is investing heavily in water treatment and supply.
“We are able to gather traditional rulers and members of the assembly and one of the strategies is to discuss extensively how to tackle the problem.
“The government is investing heavily in water treatment supply,” he said.
He also mentioned his recent trip to Thomas, during which he encouraged residents to settle their water bills to ensure the long-term sustainability of the water supply system.
Musa Tahir, the Chairman of the Kano State House of Assembly Committee on Water Resources, affirmed the committee’s commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at improving water supply.
“We are ready on every policy that will boost water supply and to also make legislation. We visited all the treatment plants.”
The stakeholders’ meeting is considered a crucial move toward strengthening the water supply system under the Wudil Regional Water Scheme, guaranteeing that residents have access to safe and clean drinking water.
