NIGER: POLICE, VIGILANTE RECOVER 520 ROUNDS OF LIVE AMMUNITION FROM HOODLUMS
The police in Niger State, working alongside vigilante members, have seized and recovered 520 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition.
In a statement issued by the Niger State Police Command and signed by Public Relations Officer SP Wasiu Abiodun, it was revealed that the incident took place on January 23rd, 2025, at around 12:30 am.
The statement further detailed that during a routine stop-and-search operation on the Bida-Nku-Patigi road, which links Niger State to Kwara State, the police stopped a motorcycle with two individuals aboard. However, when questioned, the suspects fled the scene.
The PRO disclosed that the fleeing suspects abandoned a sack.
“A search of the sack revealed the live ammunition, which is currently under investigation.”
The two fleeing suspects were traveling from Niger State to Patigi in Kwara State when they were intercepted by the police and upon being questioned, the suspects became visibly agitated and fidgety.
