The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), in partnership with Skyrock Consulting Limited, trained 300 technicians in automotive mechatronics and heavy-duty vehicle repair.

The two-week program, which concluded on Friday in Yola, brought together auto technicians and youths from various parts of Nigeria.

At the event, NADDC Director-General, Oluwemimo Osanipin, expressed deep appreciation to Skyrock Consulting Limited for their role in the training and acknowledged the support provided by the Adamawa State Government.

He highlighted the initiative’s crucial role in bridging the skills gap in Nigeria’s automotive industry, particularly in modern vehicle repairs. He also underscored NADDC’s significant accomplishments, including training over 20,000 technicians and setting up 21 Automotive Training Centres across the country, all equipped with state-of-the-art tools to support ongoing skill development.

Osanipin further said, “A skilled workforce is vital in addressing the challenges of vehicular breakdowns and accidents linked to inadequate maintenance. I commend the trainees for their dedication and hard work because the programme will propel Nigeria’s automotive industry forward, creating jobs and enhancing economic growth.

He urged the trainees to leverage their newfound skills to contribute positively to the industry and remain adaptable to its continuous evolution.

Also, the CEO of Skyrock Consulting Ltd, Mr. Olayinka Akintola, expressed his appreciation for the cooperation received from NADDC and the various state stakeholders, particularly Comrade Muhammad Abbo Tukur, the General Manager of Adamawa Transport. He thanked them for their invaluable support, including access to vehicles and CNG vehicles used for practical training sessions.

This initiative marks a significant step toward building a more skilled workforce in Nigeria’s automotive sector, fostering job creation, and driving economic growth through the development of the automotive industry.
