The Nigeria Police Force has apprehended 20 suspects and recovered firearms and ammunition following a raid on a criminal hideout in Taraba State.
The operation, which took place on Wednesday at the Wamunchi dry season rice farms, was based on reliable intelligence, according to a police statement.
Details of the raid were shared in a post by security analyst Zagazola Makama on his official X (formerly Twitter) account.
The post disclosed that the operation resulted in the confiscation of various weapons, including an AK-47 rifle, seven rounds of live ammunition, three Dane guns, a bow and arrow, and a motorcycle.
Confirming the development, a police spokesperson stated, “The 20 suspects, all male, were taken into custody and are currently being profiled. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.”
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) praised the officers involved in the operation for their quick action and reassured residents of Taraba and surrounding areas that the police are dedicated to dismantling criminal networks.
The police also encouraged the public to collaborate with security agencies by providing valuable information that could assist in future efforts to combat criminal activities in the state.
