BAUCHI WOMAN ALLEGEDLY MURDERS CO-WIFE, SETS BODY ABLAZE
The Bauchi State Police Command has initiated a thorough investigation into the tragic killing of 20-year-old Hajara Isa, allegedly by her co-wife, at her matrimonial home on February 28, 2025.
The case came to light on March 3, 2025, when Sale Isa, a resident of Anguwan Sarakuna, Bauchi, reported the suspicious death to the authorities.
While the exact circumstances surrounding the incident remain unclear, family members have raised suspicions that Hajara’s co-wife, Fatima Mohammed (28), may be involved in the crime.
In response to the report, Commissioner of Police Auwal Musa Muhammad swiftly directed detectives from the C Division Police Headquarters to investigate the matter.
A statement from the Police Command’s Spokesman, CSP Ahmed Wakili, released to the press on Tuesday, confirmed that their investigation led to the arrest of Fatima Mohammed. During interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted to strangling Hajara Isa and attempting to cover up the crime. She reportedly poured boiling water on the victim and set her body on fire with a melted Bagco sack in an effort to destroy evidence.
The case has now been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.
A dedicated team of detectives has been assigned to carry out a comprehensive inquiry, which may include exhuming the body and conducting forensic tests to uncover the truth.
CP Auwal Musa Muhammad reassured the public that justice would be served, emphasizing that the police would utilize all available resources to conduct a thorough and professional investigation.
