PASSENGER CLAIMS INDRIVE DRIVER HARASSED, THREATENED TO KILL OVER BAD REVIEW
An incident involving a ride-hailing service, inDrive, has sparked concerns after a passenger, Tobi Afolabi, took to social media to allege harassment by a driver and his associates over a negative review.
Afolabi, who identifies as Asabi and tweets as #uxtobiaf, posted about his ordeal on X.com on Wednesday.
In a series of tweets, he stated, “Posting this here just so everyone can be aware that inDrive employs drivers who harass you and send their friends to harass you over a review. I’ve been fielding calls from this guy and his friends all day because I left an honest review after a ride on Sunday. Use inDrive at your own risk.”
Afolabi also named the driver, saying that if anything were to happen to him, “… should be held accountable.”
Afolabi shared screenshots of a WhatsApp conversation with the alleged driver. In the exchange, the driver wrote, “Oluwatobi Omo Afolabi. Do u have an idea why people sleep and don’t wake up again? Literally, your answer here will depend on my next action.”
He further referenced their ride, which took place on March 16, 2025, stating that he had followed Google Maps to the given address.
Afolabi responded, “Please, why are you asking me why people don’t sleep and wake up? Our transaction ended on Sunday. So why are you messaging me here please?”
The driver then referenced Afolabi’s review, which rated him two stars and included the comment, “He didn’t listen about the route. Was bad. Impolite driver.”
“You see, life doesn’t revolve the way you think. Guess inDrive really pays you for this. I will make you famous today,” the driver wrote.
Afolabi replied, “I said what I said. Never ever contact me again.”
However, the harassment allegedly did not stop there. Afolabi revealed that he has been receiving threatening messages and calls from others he suspects to be the driver’s friends.
He shared further screenshots of the death threats and calls he has received and criticised inDrive’s handling of the situation.
“#inDrive, this is how your drivers harass someone over leaving a review. I reached out to in-app support, and you did nothing, but I’ll DM you now. inDrive, I’m getting spammed with calls and messages from drivers because I left one review. Their in-app support has done nothing but send generic apologies. I’m still getting phone calls,” he wrote.
In response to Afolabi’s viral post, inDrive wrote on X, “At inDrive, we have a zero-tolerance policy for unethical driver behaviour, and we are deeply concerned about the incident. Please DM us the details of the ride, and we will take immediate action against the driver. The safety of users is our priority. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.”
