BREAKING: PETER OBI, ALEX OTI CALL FOR LABOUR PARTY NEC MEETING
Two prominent members of the Labour Party, 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi and Abia State Governor Alex Otti, have called for a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the party.
The NEC meeting is set to take place in Abuja on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
A notice from Obi and Otti stated that the NEC meeting will be followed by a town hall session with key stakeholders and other party bodies at the Transcorp Hilton.
The notice was signed by Ibrahim Umar, the spokesperson for POMR.
Umar stated that the stakeholders invited to the meeting include the vice presidential candidate from the 2023 election, current and former senators and senatorial candidates of the LP from the 2023 election, current and former members of the House of Representatives, and LP House of Representatives candidates from the 2023 election.
Other attendees will include all members of the National Caretaker Committee (NTC), former governorship candidates still in the party, representatives from the NLC/TUC Political Commission, and all members of the former LP National Working Committee.
The meeting comes after the Supreme Court’s ruling last week, which dissolved the Julius Abure-led NWC.
