‎The Kebbi State House of Assembly has decided to summon Dr. Mansur Isah, Chairman of Dandi Local Government Area, along with his council members, for failing to respond to an official invitation during a planned oversight visit by a joint House committee.

‎The Chairman of the House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Salihu Mai Kasuwa Dangoje, announced this on Friday during the committee’s visit to the Dandi Local Government Secretariat in Kamba.

‎Dangoje, who led members of the Joint Committee on Finance and Appropriation, Budget Monitoring, Economic Planning, and Due Process, expressed displeasure over the council’s absence despite receiving prior notice.

‎”It’s unfortunate. The itinerary was sent to the chairman, notifying him of our visit to inspect projects approved by His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris.

‎“This is a constitutional responsibility of the legislature. Yet, the chairman and his council members were absent,” he said.

‎He explained that the committee met only the vice chairman and a few directors of the council, who were unable to provide substantial information on the projects, making it impossible to proceed to the sites.

‎”The only step we can take now is to invite the chairman and his council members to appear before the House,” Dangoje added.

‎According to him, Dandi was the only council out of the 17 already visited where the committee encountered such resistance.

‎The committee is currently on a state-wide oversight exercise to assess the implementation of projects and the proper use of public funds at the local government level.
