Ahmed Olufemi, 22, was charged by the police on Friday with defiling a 13-year-old girl in front of the Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.

Olufemi, whose residence was withheld, entered a not guilty plea to a three-count accusation that borders on defilement.

The defendant committed the offences on April 29 at approximately 8:00 p.m. at No. 24, Ezede St, in the Ajangbadi neighbourhood of Ojo, Lagos, according to the prosecution, Insp. Ayodele Adeosun, who testified in court.

According to Adeosun, the defendant had carnal knowledge of the girl and had enticed her into his room.

According to him, the defendant asked the girl to keep what happened between them a secret.

“The girl, however, told her parents and the defendant was arrested,” the prosecutor said.

According to Adeosun, the offences were under Sections 139, 269, and 263 of the Lagos State 2015 Criminal Law.

The offender was given N500,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Mr. Patrick Adekomaiya, along with two sureties of the same amount.

According to Adekomaiya, one of the sureties needs to have a legitimate job and provide proof that they have paid taxes to the Lagos State Government.

He postponed presentation of the case until June 3.
