Suspected Fulani herdsmen have gathered food supplies and a ransom payment of five million Naira in order to free their victim, Mr. Azubuike Bright.

On Friday evening, Bright was abducted in Ibusa, Delta State’s Oshimili North Local Government Area.

Around 9 p.m. on Sunday, the victim was freed.

In a message to our correspondent in Warri, human rights campaigner Comrade Harrison Gwamnishu, coordinator of the Safe City Project, confirmed the victim’s release.

According to Gwamnishu, “This evening, at approximately 9:00 pm, I witnessed his release after N5,000,000 and other items were delivered to the kidnappers.

“The victim reported that his abductors were all Fulani and are still at large in the bush.”

Gwamnishu drew the attention of the government and the relevant security agencies to the alarming rate of kidnapping allegedly carried out by suspected Fulani armed kidnappers who disguised as herdsmen.

Additionally, he stated that CP Olufemi Abaniwonda and the Delta State Police Command were working to resolve the issue.

When Bright went to buy dinner on Friday night, he was kidnapped.

In order to free him, his kidnappers had previously wanted fifty million naira.
