FEDERAL HIGH COURT CJ REDEPLOYS FIVE JUDGES
The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has immediately ordered the redeployment of five judges across the court’s several judicial divisions.
Catherine Christopher, the Federal High Court of Nigeria’s Director of Information, signed an official statement revealing this.
The announcement lists the following judges as impacted and their new positions: Justice Tijjani Ringim was transferred from the Gombe Division to the Yola Division, and Justice M. Umar was transferred from the Enugu Judicial Division to Abuja.
Additionally, Justice Amina Mohammed from the Awka Division was transferred to the Gombe Division; Justice Bala Usman from the Yola Division was sent to the Awka Division; and Justice M. Segun-Bello was transferred from the Abakaliki Division to the Enugu Division.
The redeployments will go into effect immediately, the statement stated. The impacted judges have been instructed to do all in their power to deliver all outstanding judgements in their present stations as soon as feasible.
Judges presently serving in the Abakaliki and Katsina Judicial Divisions are expected to take on responsibility for all cases within their respective jurisdictions, whether they are pending or recently commenced, until further notice.
In a related event, the statement stated that the judge who was redeployed to Abuja for that purpose will now hear all matters that were previously assigned to Court No. 5 in the Abuja Judicial Division.
Consequently, there is no need for litigants or legal counsel to apply to the chief judge for reassignment of such cases.
