Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu have joined the people of Ijeshaland in celebrating the coronation of Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup as the 20th Owa Obokun Adimula, Ajimoko III, in Ilesa, Osun State.

The coronation, which drew a large gathering of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and citizens, marked a new chapter in the history of Ijeshaland following the passing of the late Oba Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II.

In a statement posted on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Atiku described the event as one of “profound joy,” noting his personal connection to the people of Ijesha both as a friend and in-law.

“It was with profound joy that I joined multitudes of Ijesha sons and daughters and well-wishers to witness the coronation of HRH Oba Clement Adesuyi Haastrup… I wish the new Owa Obokun a peaceful and long reign,” Atiku wrote.

President Tinubu, in a separate congratulatory message signed by his spokesman Bayo Onanuga, praised Oba Haastrup’s diverse background and leadership qualities, expressing confidence in his ability to bring prosperity to Ijeshaland.

“Oba Haastrup’s pedigree has rekindled our confidence that he will record even greater success now that he is on the throne of his forebears,” Tinubu stated.

Oba Haastrup, a former Deputy Governor of Osun State, is also a respected businessman and real estate developer. His ascension to the throne was widely celebrated by the Ijesha community and is seen as a blend of modern experience and traditional wisdom.

With his coronation, Haastrup officially becomes the 20th Owa Obokun of Ijeshaland, assuming a revered role as both a cultural symbol and community leader in the region.
