‎A tanker transporting forty-five thousand litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly referred to as petrol, overturned in Ogbomoso, Oyo State.

‎The accident took place on Friday in the Ayanyan area along the Ogbomoso/Ilorin Expressway.

‎Reports indicate that the tanker, bearing registration number MAG 20 XB (Borno), lost control and veered into a roadside ditch.

‎Chairman of the Oyo State Fire Service, Hon. Maroof Akinwande, confirmed the incident in a statement made available on Saturday.

‎He said, “On Friday, 30th May 2025, at exactly 12:30 hrs, the distress call was reported through telephone and Alfa Kabiru Aderibigbe to a trailer tanker accident at Ayanyan area along Ogbomoso/Ilorin express road, in Ogbomoso.

‎“The firemen, led by PFS11 Oluwaleye, quickly deployed to the scene of the accident. On getting to the scene, we met a petrol trailer tanker with registration number MAG 20 XB (Borno), with 45,000 litres capacity of PMS, which had lost control and swerved into a nearby pit.

‎”We swiftly swung into action by carpeting the spillage with foam chemical compound and neutralizing the flammability from trigger ignition that might lead to a fire outbreak.
