Renowned South African artist, Nasty C, has disclosed his battle with alcohol dependency and the reasons for his decision to cease consumption. The ‘Send Me Away’ hitmaker shared that he was imbibing alcohol daily and in various settings until he resolved to conquer the addiction.

Nasty C articulated that he stopped drinking due to his desire to maintain a youthful appearance. The 28-year-old musician asserted that many South Africans believe that substantial alcohol intake can age an individual by a decade.

In a recent conversation with British-Nigerian media figure, Madame Joyce, Nasty C remarked, “I was dependent on alcohol. I was consuming it every night. Whenever I went to the studio or a restaurant, I would drink. Each time I performed, I would also drink.

“Moreover, my tolerance for alcohol was exceedingly high. When I drank with friends, I would typically be the last to become inebriated. I perceive this as detrimental, as one may not recognize when things are amiss until it is too late. I reduced my vodka intake somewhat, but I was still consuming everything else—whisky, cognac, tequila, rum—I was engaging in it all.

“I relinquished alcohol because I wish to avoid developing a ‘phuza face. ’ In South Africa, we refer to ‘phuza face’ as the rapid aging that occurs due to excessive drinking, making you appear ten years older than your actual age.”
