The Kwara State Government has approved a fresh round of multi-billion-naira construction projects across key sectors, including education, road infrastructure, and sports, as part of efforts to consolidate development and expand human capital growth in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Commissioner for Communications, Bolanle Olukoju.

According to the statement, the State Executive Council approved the construction of a four-storey administrative and Senate building for the newly established Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED), marking a major step in the Kwara Smart City initiative.

The project, awarded to M C & T Limited at a cost of N11.9 billion, is expected to be completed within 15 months. The building will house Senate and Council Chambers, conference rooms, and offices for principal officers, as well as space for key administrative units.

The Council also approved the construction of the 15km Ojoku–Ilemona Bye-Pass Road in Oyun Local Government Area, awarded to Construction Products Nig. Ltd. at N6.4 billion, with a 19-month completion period. Similarly, a N2 billion contract for the construction of the Alabe–Oreke Road in Ifelodun LGA was awarded to Wallyson Ventures, with a 12-month duration.

In addition, contractors have been mobilised for the rehabilitation of the Offa and Lafiagi stadia, aimed at strengthening access to standard sporting facilities across the state.

The AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq-led administration, which has prioritised infrastructure renewal and educational development since 2019, said the projects reflect its strategy of combining physical infrastructure with human capital development to drive inclusive and sustainable growth.
