Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has reaffirmed his commitment to a more robust and inclusive future rooted in comprehensive infrastructure and human capital advancement, as the State Executive Council endorsed various construction projects across different sectors on Thursday.

In a development marking the significant commencement of the Kwara Smart City initiative, the council has sanctioned the erection of a four-storey administrative/senate building for the Kwara State University of Education (KWSUED).

Following a presentation regarding the bidding process by the Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Dr. Segun Ogunsola, the contract for the construction of the Senate building has been awarded to M C & T Limited for the sum of N11.9 billion, with an estimated completion timeframe of 15 months.

Dr. Ogunsola indicated that the facility will accommodate Senate and Council Chambers, Conference Rooms, as well as office spaces for senior management officials including the Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice Chancellors, Registrar, and Bursar.

The building will also house administrative offices for essential university functions such as Finance, Registry, Student Affairs, Examinations, and Records, among others, as noted by the commissioner.

The council additionally evaluated and approved the construction of the Ojoku-Ilemona Bye-Pass Road in Ilemona, Oyun Local Government Area, a 15 km project anticipated to have a significant effect on the local communities involved.

This route will directly link traffic from the area to the 49 km Afon-Ojoku-Offa-Odo Otin road, which is funded through tax credits.

The project has been awarded to Construction Products Nig. Ltd. for N6.4 billion, to be completed within a 19-month timeframe.

After a presentation by the Commissioner for Works, Engr. Abdulquawiy Olododo, the cabinet also authorized a N2 billion contract for the construction of Alabe-Oreke Road in Ifelodun, which will connect the region with other agricultural communities situated in challenging terrain.

This project, which completes the extensive stretch from Owode Ofaro and links Ifelodun to Isin Local Government Area, has been contracted to Wallyson Ventures with a completion period of 12 months.

These approvals coincide with the mobilization of contractors to commence construction activities on the Offa and Lafiagi Stadia, thereby enhancing public access to high-quality sports facilities throughout the state.

Both stadia, now approved for restoration, had remained inactive for several years.
