The management of Sunview Hotel, Akure, Ondo State, says it is working closely with security agencies to unravel the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Mr. Olaloye Olatunde, a vice principal who went missing after lodging at the facility during a training programme.

Olatunde, who travelled from Owo on Sunday, August 24, 2025, to attend a training organised by some non-governmental organisations, was last seen three days after checking into the hotel. His belongings were later discovered in his room.

The Ondo State Police Command confirmed that four suspects had been arrested in connection with the case, while investigations are ongoing.

Speaking with journalists in Akure on Thursday, the hotel’s General Manager, Kenneth Ekpeyong, described the incident as “unfortunate” and stressed that the hotel was cooperating fully with investigators.

According to him, Olatunde was among 58 participants who lodged at the facility for the training, which began on August 24 and was scheduled to end the following Saturday.

“The alarm was first raised when the missing guest failed to sign his bill on the last day of the programme,” Ekpeyong said, explaining that the hotel management later contacted the organisers and subsequently the police after the man’s family raised concerns.

He revealed that the hotel had petitioned the police through the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police before the case was referred to the state command. The matter is currently being handled by the anti-kidnapping unit, while the Department of State Services has also launched a parallel investigation.

“We want to make it clear that we have formally complained and there is evidence of our written petition to the police,” Ekpeyong added.

The disappearance of the vice principal has raised concerns in the community, with family members and colleagues awaiting answers from the ongoing investigations.
