Former lawmaker, Senator Elisha Abbo, has surrendered to the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja following allegations that he raped a 13-year-old secondary school student.

Parents of the minor alleged that Abbo, a former governorship candidate in Adamawa State, committed the offence on June 29, 2025, at his residence in Katampe, Abuja. They also claimed that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as “Binani,” visited their home to plead with them not to make the matter public.

The family further accused Abbo of sending money to the victim’s father in an attempt to suppress the case.

As of the time of this report, the senator was still being held at the FCID.

Abbo, who previously represented Adamawa North in the National Assembly, has a history of controversies. He was once arrested for assaulting a woman at a sex shop in Abuja, and more recently faced accusations of blackmail involving a sex tape.
