The Kwara State Government has announced that the leader of the kidnapping syndicate causing distress in the region, commonly referred to as “Maidawa,” has been eliminated along with his associates during the ongoing aerial assaults conducted by the Nigerian Air Force in the dense woodlands surrounding Isanlu-Isin and the adjacent Kogi State.
The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Rafiu Ajakaiye, communicated this information in a press release on Thursday.
As per the statement, “Intercepted communications from the rampaging kidnappers indicated that a notorious abductor known as Maidawa and numerous of his operatives have been neutralized in a confrontation with combined security forces near Isanlu-Isin in Kwara State. ”
It further mentioned that “the engagement occurred on September 30 as security forces pressed forward the operation to rout the criminals, according to an intercept by the state security service.
“The news of Maidawa’s death was broken to other gang members by another wanted kidnapper, Baccujo, around Igboro-Idofin road during a conversation with his associates in faraway Marabar Maigora, Sabuwa LGA of Katsina State.
“Security forces, spurred by new calls of the state government for urgent interventions, have ratcheted up the efforts to dislodge the kidnappers who often launch cowardly attacks on civilian populations and abduct people for ransom.”

The report further outlined that the operations are strategy-driven to encompass all regions where incidents have been documented in recent weeks, including Ekiti, Ifelodun, Isin, Edu, and Patigi.
It is noteworthy that the recent attack on Oke-Ode last Sunday morning by the bandits resulted in the deaths of at least eleven forest guards and several locals, with others seized during the operation, prompting the ongoing offensive by the Nigerian Air Force and military forces to eradicate banditry and kidnapping in the state.
