Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have recovered a large cache of electronic devices, including 75 mobile phones and five laptops, after two suspects abandoned their bags and fled during a routine patrol in Ikeja.

The incident occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on Sunday, October 5, 2025, near Allen Roundabout, Ikeja, when men of the Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) sighted the suspects. Upon noticing the operatives, the suspects immediately dropped two “Ghana Must Go” bags and fled the scene.

A search of the bags revealed 32 iPhones of different models and 38 other smartphones from brands including Samsung, Redmi, Tecno, and Honor. The operatives also recovered five laptops, smart wristwatches, AirPods, a Samsung Tab, a Sorapad, and several damaged phones suspected to be stolen.

Commander of the RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye, disclosed that preliminary investigations indicated the items were stolen property abandoned by the suspects in their bid to escape.

“We are calling on members of the public who may have lost similar items to come forward with verifiable proof of ownership for proper identification and reclaiming of their property,” Jejeloye said.

The Moshood Jimoh, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, commended the RRS operatives for their vigilance and swift response. He praised their professionalism and reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, proactive crime prevention, and enhanced public safety across the state.

“Our focus remains on ensuring the safety of lives and property across Lagos through strategic operations and swift response to criminal activities,” the CP stated.

The Command advised Lagos residents to report any suspicious movements promptly to aid ongoing efforts to curb crime in the metropolis.
