The Ondo State Police Command has redeployed the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the Enu-Owa Division following alleged unprofessional conduct in a case involving a social media influencer , popularly known as Mandykiss.

The directive was issued by the after a viral video showed the influencer filming and verbally assaulting a mother and daughter she had allegedly arrested for cyberbullying.

In the footage, which circulated widely over the weekend, Mandykiss claimed she travelled to Ondo State to apprehend the pair identified as mother and her daughter, over persistent online trolling. She was also seen recording videos and taking photographs of the suspects while in police custody at the Enu-Owa Division.

The incident drew widespread criticism and raised concerns over police ethics and due process.

In a statement issued Tuesday via the command’s official X handle, preliminary investigations revealed that no police personnel accompanied Mandykiss during the arrest. Instead, she was allegedly assisted by her social media followers, who provided information leading to the suspects’ location.

“Upon arrival at the station, she handed them over to the police but went further to take their photographs within the premises and post them on her social media platforms — an act contrary to standard police procedure and inconsistent with the legal principle of presumption of innocence until proven guilty,” the statement read.

CP Lawal described the incident as “a clear lapse in supervisory responsibility and professional judgment” by the DPO, leading to the officer’s immediate redeployment.

He stressed that the command would not tolerate any conduct capable of eroding public trust in the , reaffirming that photographing or recording suspects in custody violates established ethical standards.

The commissioner further directed all officers to maintain professionalism, impartiality, and respect for human rights while handling cases.

“The protection of both complainants and suspects must be ensured in strict accordance with the law,” CP Lawal said, adding that internal disciplinary measures are being reinforced to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
