Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu said the complex represents more than just a physical structure, but a “living symbol of the power of education, knowledge, and the dreams of generations to come.”

He noted that the project aligns with his administration’s THEMES+ Agenda, particularly the focus on education and technology as drivers of human capital development. The governor also commended the LASU management and stakeholders for their dedication to academic excellence, urging students and staff to make effective use of the facility.

“This library is not merely a building filled with books; it is a beacon of hope and inspiration for those who seek knowledge. I encourage every user to take ownership, protect it, and allow it to inspire creativity, research, and innovation,” Sanwo-Olu said.

In his remarks, the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, praised the Lagos State Government for sustaining heavy investment in education and infrastructure, describing the project as a benchmark for other states and tertiary institutions.

The LASU Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, expressed appreciation to the governor for his continuous support to the university, noting that the new library will enhance learning, research, and global competitiveness among students and faculty.

The Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu Library Complex is expected to serve as a major knowledge hub for scholars and researchers across Nigeria and beyond.
