President Bola Tinubu has put forth the nomination of Dr. Bernard Mohammed Doro from Plateau State for the position of Minister in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This information was communicated in a letter submitted to the Senate for approval, as indicated by a statement released on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

Doro’s nomination is subsequent to the election of Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, the prior Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in July.

Bernard Doro is a prominent community figure actively engaged in politics within Nigeria and the United Kingdom, where he has resided for an extended period.

He holds the position of Financial Secretary for the APC UK chapter, a role he assumed in June 2024.

Doro is also a member of the committee responsible for organizing the Nigerian Diaspora Investment & Cultural Summit 2024, which occurred in Birmingham from December 4 to 7, 2024.

There are speculations regarding his interest in contesting for the Plateau North Senatorial District seat in 2027, although he has yet to officially announce his candidacy.

Educational and Professional Background

Doro possesses academic qualifications in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA concentrated on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s degree in Advanced Clinical Practice.
He functions as an autonomous prescriber and an advanced clinical professional, occupying pivotal positions within urgent care, walk-in facilities, general practice environments, and healthcare institutions.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, he has spearheaded youth mentorship and social impact projects both in the diaspora and domestically, concentrating on skill enhancement and community empowerment.

He is affiliated with various local and global professional organizations, holding a fellowship in the Institute of Mortgage Brokers and Lenders of Nigeria and membership in the Royal Pharmaceutical Society.

Apart from his political and professional commitments, Doro has also directed youth mentorship and social impact programs within the diaspora and local communities.

He established the Doro Vision Farmers’ Seed Fund, a program designed to empower farmers in Plateau North, Plateau State, by offering financial assistance to improve their agricultural practices.
