He articulated that the resolution was made in consideration of students, parents, the media, the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and other considerate Nigerians who had demonstrated support and facilitated discussions in the conflict.
ASUU, however, cautioned that if the government does not address the remaining issues within the one-month timeframe, the union would have no alternative but to recommence strike action without additional notification.
“The struggle persists,” Piwuna asserted, urging patriotic Nigerians to implore the government to fulfill its obligations to secure industrial peace and maintain stability in the academic schedule.
The ministry’s report enumerated 16 impacted schools in Calabar, 10 in Ikom, and an additional 10 in Ogoja, all determined to be operating without governmental authorization.
Reiterating the administration’s dedication to high-quality education, Odey emphasized that only properly registered and accredited institutions would be authorized to operate.
He additionally urged parents and guardians to confirm the accreditation status of schools prior to enrolling their children, cautioning that the enforcement initiative would expand to all 18 local government areas within the state.
“This exercise will continue until every illegal school is either regularised or shut down. We are determined to protect the integrity of education in Cross River State,” Odey stated.
