A 200-level Law student at Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, Akinlolu Richard Omisade, has threatened to sue the institution for ₦500 million over what he described as a “fake” admission.

Omisade, through his lawyer, Barrister Abdulfatai Abdulsalam, alleged that his name was not listed on the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) portal as a bona fide student of the university. He claimed that despite receiving an admission letter into the Law programme dated August 16, 2024, the university failed to forward his details to JAMB for verification.

In a petition to the Vice-Chancellor, Omisade accused the school of issuing “unverifiable admission letters” capable of deceiving unsuspecting Nigerians. His lawyer has given the university three working days to regularize the admission or face a ₦500 million lawsuit.

The student also vowed to report the matter to the National Universities Commission (NUC), JAMB, and the Council of Legal Education (CLE) if the issue is not resolved promptly.

Reacting to the development, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Olaniyi Adekanye, said the institution is in discussions with the student’s parents to address the matter amicably.
