Gunmen on Tuesday night attacked Daron village in Gyel District, Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State, killing two people and injuring one.

The assault, which occurred around 7:50 p.m. on October 21, 2025, has once again heightened tension in the area.

Confirming the incident, President of the Berom Youths Moulders Association, Solomon Dalyop, told the press on Wednesday that the victims included Mr. Pam Choji.

“In another turn of events at about 7:50 pm on 21st October, 2025, bandits suspected to be armed Fulani attacked and shot dead two people, among whom is Mr. Pam Choji, and one was injured at Daron village of Gyel District in Jos South LGA,” Dalyop said.

He revealed that the attack came despite earlier warnings of planned raids on villages in Gyel and neighbouring settlements.

“The bandits just opened fire on the community,” he added.

Spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, Alabo Alfred, confirmed the incident, stating, “Yes, we are aware of the incident. We have just finished our monthly press briefing, and we are moving to the community right now.”

The latest assault underscores the persistent insecurity plaguing Plateau communities, where several violent attacks have occurred in recent months.

Governor Caleb Mutfwang reiterated his administration’s commitment to working with security agencies to end the attacks. He urged perpetrators to renounce violence and embrace peace.

On October 9, 2025, two people were also killed by gunmen along the Barkin Ladi–Dorowa Babuje road after attending a security meeting called by the Sector Four Commander. The victims were ambushed on their way home.
