DAVIDO MEETS FRENCH PRESIDENT MACRON, SPARKS GLOBAL FAN REACTIONS
By Aishat Momoh. O

Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has sent fans into a frenzy after revealing his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron on Thursday.
The multi-award-winning singer shared photos of the encounter on his official X account, writing: “It was an honour meeting #EmmanuelMacron and sharing our visions for a better world.”
While Davido did not disclose details of their discussion, the meeting underscores the deepening cultural ties between Nigeria and France, particularly through music, art, and digital innovation.
President Macron, known for his admiration of African creativity, has consistently engaged with the continent’s entertainment industry. During his 2018 visit to Lagos, Macron made headlines with his historic stop at the Afrika Shrine, which he described as an iconic hub of African culture and music.
The meeting also coincides with the recently concluded Création Africa Forum in Lagos — an initiative of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, curated by Maison des Mondes Africains — which brought together some of Africa’s brightest talents in digital fashion, gaming, animation, and immersive technologies.
Davido’s engagement with Macron is being celebrated online as another milestone for Afrobeats’ global influence and a sign of the genre’s power to bridge cultures and foster international partnerships.
