TROOPS NEUTRALISE 50 TERRORISTS IN FRESH BORNO, YOBE OFFENSIVE

Forces involved in Operation Hadin Kai have neutralized over 50 insurgents and thwarted several orchestrated offensives targeting military installations throughout Borno and Yobe States.
The Nigerian military reported that these simultaneous assaults transpired between midnight and 4 AM on Thursday when militants launched attacks on troop positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, located within Sectors 1 and 2 of the Joint Operations Area 1.
The Media Information Officer for the Joint Task Force North East (OPHK), Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, commented on Thursday in Maiduguri, stating that the troops exhibited remarkable bravery and professionalism, successfully repelling the assaults and inflicting substantial casualties on the insurgents.
The statement noted, “Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) demonstrated renewed determination, successfully thwarting terrorist incursions across various sites in the Joint Operations Area during the early hours of today, 23 October 2025.
“Between midnight and 0400 hours, the militants executed coordinated strikes against troop positions in Dikwa, Mafa, Gajibo, and Katarko, which are located in Sector 1 (Borno State) and Sector 2 (Yobe State), respectively.
“In every instance, the troops remained resolute, fought bravely, and professionally repelled the attacks, delivering the insurgents a significant, decisive, and lethal setback. ”
Uba further elaborated that the synchronized ground and aerial operations, bolstered by precision strikes from the Air Component of OPHK, culminated in the neutralization of more than 50 insurgents across all sites.
“The coordinated offensive response was fortified by aerial assets of the Air Component Command of OPHK. The precision strikes, alongside enhanced situational awareness provided by Theatre Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, empowered troops with the necessary leverage and motivation to retaliate with overwhelming and lethal force. ”
“The integrated ground and aerial efforts resulted in the elimination of over 50 insurgents across all targeted locations,” he stated.
He revealed that over 70 injured insurgents were being pursued by ground forces, while the Air Component maintained close coordination to guarantee the complete eradication of the fleeing remnants.
Intelligence reports indicated that the attackers who targeted Dikwa and Gajibo maneuvered from the direction of Cameroon, while those who assaulted Katarko emerged from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious terrorist stronghold.
Uba confirmed that some valiant troops sustained injuries but were in stable condition, while several vehicles and structures in Mafa and Dikwa were engulfed in flames due to RPG and drone strikes from the insurgents.
“The coordination of precision strikes, along with enhanced battlefield awareness supplied by the Theatre’s Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) assets, provided troops with additional strength and motivation to counteract with overwhelming and lethal force,” Uba reiterated.
He disclosed that over 70 wounded militants were being pursued by ground forces, with the Air Component ensuring meticulous coordination to achieve the total clearance of the fleeing insurgents.
Intelligence assessments, he stated, suggested that the assailants who invaded Dikwa and Gajibo maneuvered from the Cameroon front, whereas those who assaulted Katarko originated from the Timbuktu Triangle, a notorious haven for terrorists.
Uba reported that some valiant personnel incurred injuries but were in stable condition, while several vehicles and structures in Mafa and Dikwa were consumed by flames as a result of RPG and drone assaults executed by the militants.
“Some of the valiant personnel were injured during the conflict but are in stable condition. Additionally, various vehicles and edifices were engulfed by fire due to the terrorists’ armed drones and RPG fire amid the confrontation, particularly in Mafa and Dikwa, where a portion of the defenses was temporarily compromised,” he remarked.
He emphasized that despite the intense assault, the troops upheld control over all their positions and successfully thwarted the synchronized attacks with renewed vigor and professionalism.
“The Military High Command has lauded the bravery, determination, and renewed efforts of the personnel. Their unwavering performance once again underscores the military’s steadfast commitment and capability to protect the nation’s territorial integrity,” he concluded.
