The Osun State Police Command has arrested 10 suspected members of an unlawful society during a raid on a lounge in Moro Community, Ife North Local Government Area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, who disclosed this during a press briefing on Monday, said the suspects were apprehended while allegedly planning criminal activities at the lounge.

According to Gotan, police operatives acted on a credible tip-off and stormed the location at about 12:45 a.m. on October 25, 2025, where the suspects engaged officers in a gun duel before being subdued.

“Upon sighting the police team, the suspected evildoers opened fire, but our gallant officers responded decisively and successfully repelled the attack without any casualty,” Gotan said.

He added that the operation, led by the Police Rapid Response Unit (PRU), led to the arrest of 10 suspects—nine males and one female—and the recovery of five guns, ammunition, five vehicles, and ten motorcycles from the scene.

Gotan further revealed that the lounge where the suspects were arrested had become a criminal hideout for cultists, kidnappers, and thugs who planned attacks within the area. He said the owner and supervisor of the lounge are currently on the run, with efforts underway to apprehend them.

Those arrested include: Adebayo Olalekan (27), Hammed Abdullah (47), Olajide Opeyemi (34), Olushola Samson (24), Salako Opeyemi (20), Majekodunmi Shefiu (32), Ganiyu Yusuf (24), Ridwan Temitope (25), Taofeek Yusuf (25), and Babafemi Adelowo (28).

In a related development, the Commissioner also confirmed the arrest of Lekan Jamiu, a 22-year-old suspected member of a criminal gang operating in Osogbo, from whom police recovered a cut-to-size locally made pistol, ammunition, assorted charms, and Indian hemp.

Gotan assured residents that all suspects would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations, reiterating the command’s commitment to ridding the state of criminal elements.

He urged citizens to continue providing timely intelligence to assist law enforcement in combating crime, stressing that the police remain dedicated to ensuring the safety of lives and property across Osun State.

The arrests form part of the command’s ongoing crackdown on cultism and violent crimes, following previous operations in Ile-Ife, Iree, and Osogbo, where several suspects were apprehended and weapons recovered.
