The Kwara State Police Command says it has rescued one Haruna Ahamadu unhurt from a kidnapper’s den in the Omu-Aran forest, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.

The spokesperson for the Command, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, disclosed this in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Thursday in Ilorin.

Ejire-Adeyemi said the rescue operation followed credible intelligence that led to a joint action by police operatives and local vigilante members.

According to the statement, two suspects — Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male) — have been arrested in connection with the abduction, while a manhunt has been launched for other fleeing members of the gang.

“The Kwara State Police Command has recorded yet another operational success in its sustained onslaught against criminal elements in the state.

“Acting on credible intelligence, a combined team of police operatives and vigilante group rescued one Haruna Ahamadu unhurt from kidnappers’ den in Omu-Aran forest.

“Two suspects, Ayisa Ibrahim (female) and Yakubu Hassan (male), are currently in custody, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend other fleeing members of the gang,” the statement read in part.

Ejire-Adeyemi stated that the Commissioner of Police, CP Adekimi Ojo, praised the professionalism and commitment of the officers involved in the operation, assuring the public that the Command remains steadfast in its dedication to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state.

“The Commissioner of Police lauded the officers for their commitment and assured the community that the Command remains entirely devoted to dismantling criminal organizations and ensuring the safety of all citizens,” the statement elaborated.

As per the announcement, the CP also expressed gratitude towards the leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, whose policing vision, he noted, continues to improve operational efficiency and proactive crime-fighting measures across the nation.

Barely two days ago, the Army handed over 23 rescued kidnap victims from the Kwara-Kogi border forests to the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, following coordinated raids on criminal hideouts in the state.
