According to Abubakar Mohammed, the deceased's relative, Aishatu passed away after suffering from excruciating stomach discomfort for several months after undergoing surgery at the hospital approximately four months prior. Mohammed claims that following the procedure in September, Aishatu apparently started having ongoing, worsening stomach pain. He claimed that despite her many medical stays, she was just prescribed painkillers without any additional testing. TRANSPORT MINISTER MOURNS DEATH OF 5 PERSONS IN LPG TRUCK MISHAP

BY JENN NOMAMIUKOR On Monday, January 12, 2026, a deadly traffic accident involving a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) tanker in Lawanti village, Akko Local Government Area, Gombe State, claimed the lives of five people. The LPG tanker allegedly crashed into victims in the Lawanti hamlet along the Bauchi–Gombe route, causing immediate deaths and multiple injuries. Residents have described the catastrophe as surprising and terrible, and it has left the town in grief. Senator Said Alkali, the Minister of Transportation, responded to the tragedy by offering his sincere sympathies to the residents of Lawanti district, especially the families of the five victims who perished.
