GOV. ADELEKE ORDERS IMMEDIATE SUSPENSION OF MINING OPERATORS
DAMILOLA LAWRENCE
Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered the immediate suspension of all mining firms operating under the state’s mining licenses as part of his efforts to reform the state’s Solid Mineral Sector.
All operators must submit copies of their Memorandum of Understanding, which governs their relationship with the state government, to the Committee on Assets Verification and Recovery, chaired by Dr. B.T Salami.
He reiterated his resolve to recover all funds owed to Osun state and to stop the reaping of state assets from mining to revenue collection in a public announcement made by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye.
The operators’ suspension will be in effect until the conclusion of the ongoing review of the MOU between the state, as the owner of the licenses, and the operators. On Monday, all operators must report to the committee by 12 p.m.
