Two suspects have been detained by the Lagos police command in relation to the death of a police inspector at the Cele bus stop in Oshodi-Isolo, Lagos.

According to information gathered, some operators invaded the Apapa-Oshodi expressway armed with machetes, planks, and other tools to create havoc.

The rioters are accused of stealing three police-owned firearms.

Benjamin Hundeyin, the state’s police spokesperson, claimed on Wednesday that motorcycle riders attacked police officers from the Isolo division while they were out on patrol to enforce the state’s current motorcycle ban.

According to the police spokesman, a divisional police officer was hurt by the motorcycle operators while an officer was lynched to death.

He also mentioned the seizure by the government of 41 motorcycles and the apprehension of two suspects. command.

“While enforcing the existing ban on the use of motorcycles in parts of Lagos State, Police Officers of Isolo Division came under attack from motorcycle riders at Cele bus-stop, resulting in the death of one Police Inspector & serious injury to the Divisional Police Officer (DPO),” Mr Hundeyin said.

“Two suspects have been arrested while forty-one motorcycles were impounded. The Lagos State Police Command will not be deterred from carrying out its mandate of enforcing duly established laws.

“Citizens are urged to remain law-abiding, as riders and passengers alike arrested on prohibited routes will face the law. Above all, any form of attack on Police Officers will no longer be tolerated!”
