SEUN KUTI TURNS SELF IN FOR SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER
By Adeniyi OnaaraĀ
Seun Kuti, an afrobeat singer, surrendered to police this morning at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters in Ikeja while accompanied by his attorney and a member of his family.
He has been detained in accordance with the law.
The public’s concerns are appreciated, and the Command assures them that the continuing inquiry will be thorough, open, and professionally conducted. It also promises that justice will be clearly served for all persons involved.
Seun Kuti, an afrobeat musician who is now detained by the police, was handcuffed and transported to Panti’s State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (SCIID) for more questioning and potential incarceration.
This information was revealed in a video uploaded on Monday by Omoyele Sowore, the African Action Congress’s (AAC) presidential candidate.
Recall that after Kuti got into a fight with a police officer on the 3rd Mainland Bridge last week, Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Usman Alkali Baba, issued an arrest warrant for him.
He was shown on film punching a uniformed police officer.
However, Sowore claimed that Kuti had kept his word to fully help with police inquiries by traveling to Lagos to meet with the commissioner of police while accompanied by his attorneys.
