GCIOBA ’85 SET’ MARKS 38TH ANNIVERSARY IN STYLE

…… Awards 20 students with scholarships for 2023/2024 WAEC and NECO
The Government College Ibadan, Old Boys Association (GCIOBA), has celebrated its 38th anniversary of graduating from the prestigious school.
The set as part of the activities for their anniversary held a luncheon and give-back project in which they had a discussion on the Roles of Professionals in Nigeria Politics.
The guest speaker Chief Olufemi Majekodunmi, a medical doctor by training, while speaking at the event said, “As a professional, you must have gone through some tutelage, learning and even practice in your company. The codes of conduct, discipline are all that is needed to make a genuine trustworthy professional.”
He advised that any professional who wants to go into politics with the notion to make money, he said that it’s better for such a person to stay in his/her profession and do the needful.
During the event which was held in Ibadan last Saturday, the Chairman of the ’85 set, Olubukola Alabi, while giving his speech, said that the class set is moving on with giant strides and has also found new ways of meeting the challenges in the School.
He noted that the set has not only fulfilled her Annual Commitment to Government College Ibadan, in giving back to the School but also aligned with the national vision of GCIOBA by paying all her National Dues with improvement on the contribution of set members in GCIOBA Educational Foundation Levy Contribution.
Alabi emphasized that all hands should be on deck to cooperate with the 40th anniversary Committee of the set so as to have a befitting celebration in September 2025.
He said, “I expect active participation of members both on social media platforms and in meeting rooms where most of the plans will be discussed, articulated and sanctioned for implementation by the 40th Anniversary Committee.”
“I will like to encourage all our Diaspora classmates to start making arrangements for physical set homecoming reunion come September 2025, it will be a dream to have everyone of us come together to grace the occasion after 40years of first coming together.”
He thanked everyone present at the event for their commitment and sacrifice towards the success of the anniversary, while congratulating all awardees.
The students who benefited from the WAEC/JAMB scholarship award thanked the set for their kind gestures, as they promised to make them proud.
