In a recent bandit raid on Yar Nasarawa village in Katsina State’s Faskari Local Government Area, six people have been officially declared dead and ten more injured.

According to sources, the bandits launched their attacks simultaneously.

It was discovered that the robbers ambushed the settlement just as its inhabitants were getting ready for bed.

Three houses and four motorcycles were allegedly set on fire by the bandits while they kidnapped an unknown number of locals.

Residents, however, revealed that bandits also attacked Ruwangodiya village in the same local government area on Monday night, where they rustled an unspecified number of domestic animals.

A resident who spoke on condition of anonymity said, “The hoodlums also attacked Ruwan Godiya village in the same local government area and carried out their activities where residents are now counting their losses.”

The spokesman for the state police command, ASP Abubakar Aliyu, in a statement on Tuesday confirmed the incident.

Aliyu stated that security operatives have been drawn to the community to restore normalcy.

He said, “On February 19, 2024, at about 11.30 pm, some suspected bandits in their numbers, armed with weapons such as AK-47 rifles, attacked Nasarawa village, Faskari LGA, where they shot and killed six persons, injured about 10, and set ablaze three houses and about 10 motor vehicles.

“The CP has since deployed the command’s tactical, operational, and intelligence to the scene, combing the surrounding bushes for the possible arrest of the perpetrators for diligent prosecution.”

This attack is coming barely a month after bandits killed two residents and abducted 29 others in an attack on Dan Alhaji and Yandaka villages in the Batsari Local Government Area of the State.
