BREAKING: COURT FIXES MAY 29 FOR TRIAL OF DETAINED MIYETTI ALLAH LEADER
The trial of Bello Bodejo, the detained leader of the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, has been scheduled for May 29 by Justice Inyang Ekwo of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The accused person’s bail motion was denied, and the court set the date.
The case was scheduled for a ruling and the start of Bodejo’s trial at the most recent postponed date; however, the trial was delayed due to his nonattendance.
His attorney, Ahmed Raji, declared his client was prepared for trial not long after the court set the date of the trial.
He stated that there would be no need to challenge the decision regarding his bail at this time because the court had mandated an expedited hearing in the case.
The leader of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore was detained by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Abuja after it was claimed that he had illegally formed the ethnic militia Kungiya Zaman Lafiya in order to support terrorism.
The Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) filed three counts against him, alleging that he had violated the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act of 2022. He was arraigned on these counts in March.
He refuted each and every accusation.
Before the court ruled on his bail application, his lawyer pleaded with Justice Ekwo to admit his client to bail on various grounds ranging from ill health to fundamental rights but the judge dismissed the bail application.
