BREAKING: KENYA’S PRESIDENT WITHDRAW TAX PLAN AFTER DEADLY PROTEST
Following tragic protests on Tuesday that resulted in the parliament being set on fire, President William Ruto of Kenya has announced his intention to rescind a finance package that included contentious tax increases.
He declared in a speech to the country that Kenyans “want nothing” to do with the measure.
“I concede,” he said, adding that he will not sign the bill into law.
At least 22 people were killed in Tuesday’s protests, according to the state-funded Kenya National Commission on Human Rights (KNHRC).
