2Kay’s robbery: Burna Boy yet to report to Police, says PPRO
The Lagos State Police Command on Wednesday said that the musician, Damini Ogulu popularly known as Burna Boy, recently declared wanted, has yet to report himself to the police over an alleged robbery operation.
The spokesman for the command, ASP Olarinde Famous-Cole, made this known in a statement, stressing that the musician was still at large over an alleged robbery against another musician.
Mr. Edgal Imohimi, Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, had on Monday advised the musician to report at the command.
According to Imohimi, Burna Boy was mentioned in a robbery incident at an event organised by Buckwild Media at Eko Hotel, where Abiye David Jombo, another Nigerian musician popularly known as Mr 2K, was attacked after his performance.
Famous-Cole said, “This is contrary to reports making the rounds on the internet that the musician has honoured the police invitation.
“The command would also like to inform the public that only Burna Boy’s father, one Samuel Ogulu, visited the Police Officer-in-charge of the case with the promise to bring him before the police.
“The Command, however, is using this medium to urge Burna Boy’s father and relatives to do the right thing by bringing the musician to the police, before the long arm of the law catches up with him.
“The command assures that justice will be done,’’ Famous-Cole said.
He added: “I am using this medium to advise Damini Ogulu, aka Burna Boy, to report to the nearest police station as all efforts to locate him at his Lekki residence have proved abortive.
“On October 22, after a show organised by Buckwild Media, one Jumbo who lodged at Eko Hotel, had returned to his room after his performance when he heard a knock on the door.
“The voice had introduced himself as room service and when Jumbo opened the door, four men gained entrance into the room, dispossessed him of valuables worth N11m and tied up the musician and his girlfriend.
“During interrogation, which involved probing the CCTV camera, a girlfriend of one of the hotel workers was arrested.
“She then led the police to the arrest of three other suspects, including Burna boy’s road manager, Joel Kante.
“The suspects confessed that Burna Boy had contacted them to teach Mr 2K a lesson by beating him up.
“The suspects said Ogulu paid them N50,000 as upfront and also paid another N50,000 after the victim was beaten up and robbed,’’ he said.
