Nigerian-American professional basketball players, Amy Okonkwo and Ezinne Kalu, top a 12-player final roster for Nigeria’s national women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, ahead of the Paris 2024 Olympics, which will take place from July 26 to August 11.

Completesports.com reports that the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) had initially released a list of 16 players before their departure to Germany for pre-Olympics games.

With a match against Japan scheduled for July 24 to conclude their pre-Olympics games, the NBBF released the final 12-player roster, excluding the four newly invited players, on Tuesday, July 23.

The 12 players include team captain Amy Okonkwo, Elizabeth Balogun, Nicole Enabosi, Promise Amukamara, Murjanatu Musa, and Ifunaya Okoro.

Others are Pallas Kunayi, Blessing Ejiofor, Ezinne Kalu, Olaoluwatomi Taiwo, Lauren Ebo, and Adebola Adeyeye.

The four players who did not make the final 12 are Solape Amusan, Rita Igbokwe, Christeen Iwuala, and Lucy Ibeh.

The women’s team will face a tough challenge in Group B, which includes powerhouse teams such as Australia, Canada, and host nation France—all ranked in the top 7 of the FIBA world rankings.
