
JUST IN: NIGERIA’S TRADE SURPLUS REACHES N6.95TN IN Q2 2024 AS IMPORT DROPS
Nigeria had a modest dip in overall merchandise trade in the second quarter of 2024, but the country still posted a trade surplus of N6.95 trillion, a testament to its excellent export performance.
From the previous quarter, when a surplus of N6.52 trillion was reported, this surplus represents an increase of 6.60%.
Nigeria’s overall goods trade in the second quarter of 2024 was recorded at N31.89 trillion, down 3.76% from the previous quarter (Q1 2024) but increased 150.39% from the same period in 2023.
This is in accordance with a report that the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released on Wednesday and which illustrates a drop in imports from Nigeria.
