INEC REJECTS LABOUR PARTY NATIONAL CHAIRMAN ABURE
Despite the fact that Julius Abure’s name is still listed on the list of political party chairman on the INEC website, the commission has declined to acknowledge him as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
This latest information is presented in a counter-affidavit that the Labour Party submitted in the Federal High Court of Abuja in response to its lawsuit challenging its exclusion from INEC’s refresher training for political party agents prior to the governorship elections in the states of Edo and Ondo.
The memo stated that INEC demanded that Abure’s term as the Labour Party’s National Chairman ended in June 2024.
Since the Labour Party’s congress in Anambra state extended the term of the Julius Abure-led executive in June of this year, the party has been embroiled in a new leadership contest.
