The administration of Crescent University Abeokuta was shocked to see false information circulating online claiming that the Council of Legal Education (CLE) had halted admissions to the university’s law degree program.

The university refuted the rumor, calling it deceptive, inaccurate, and mischievous in a statement sent by Senior Assistant Registrar (Public Relations), Idris Katib.

Senior CLE employees also attested to the university administration that the information was false, misrepresented, and did not originate from CLE.

According to the statement, Crescent University’s law program is among the best in Nigeria, having sent out first-class graduates who passed the Nigerian law school’s call to bar exams.

According to the announcement, Crescent University completed all of its programs with a perfect score in the most recent round of accreditation administered by the National Universities Commission (NUC).

“Crescent University was last accredited in 2022 and because CLE was impressed, our law school quota was increased to 70.

“It is on record that was no accreditation visit to Crescent University in 2024, not even in 2023. Accreditation comes up every 5 years and by the Special grace of Allah, Crescent University is 100% accredited in all its programmes.”

In an attempt to demarket the university, the statement urged parents, students, and other interested parties to discard the fake report.

Additionally, it urged all parties involved to double-check any material regarding the state of university programs found on the websites of regulating organizations such the National Universities Commission, Council of Legal Education (CLE), or the university website at www.cuab.edu.ng.
