The ruling All Progressives Congress unveiled the official timetable for the 2024 Rivers State Elective Congresses on Friday, set to commence on November 2.

Malam Suleiman Argungu, the APC’s national organizing secretary, revealed this in a statement released in Abuja.

Recall that the ruling party appointed a caretaker committee, headed by Chief Tony Okocha, a few months ago to oversee the process of electing new leadership for the state chapter following the dissolution of the Beke-led executives.

Despite being reinstated by a recent court judgment, the National Working Committee of the APC has vowed to recognise the caretaker committee, insisting that the court has no jurisdiction over party affairs.

In Friday’s statement, the APC announced that aspirants for the chairmanship and vice chairmanship positions are to pick up the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for N3m and N2.5m, respectively.

In the category of local government chairmanship, the form is priced at N100,000.

The statement partly read, “Female aspirants and persons living with disabilities are to purchase the Expression of Interest form with a 50 percent discount on the nomination form. Youths aged 25 to 40 should also purchase the Expression of Interest form with a 50 percent discount on the nomination form.

“Only financial members who have paid membership dues up to three months before the date of the delegate congress at the rate of N200 per month will be qualified to vote at the Ward Congress.”

Going further, Argungu said the Nomination and Expression of Interest forms would be made available for purchase at the Directorate of the Organisation at the national headquarters of the APC in Abuja.

According to the revised timetable and schedule of activities, the composition of the screening and appeal committee will take place on October 18, while the last date for submission of completed forms is October 21.

However, the congress to elect state executive council members will be held on November 9.
